Two Dangers to Your Finances.

Two Dangers to Your Finances and What FORTIfi can do to Help You.

warning_1_1_1.jpegThrough my role at FORTIfi Ltd I have visited many people in their homes to discuss personal and small business finances. In so doing there are two things I have noticed over and over again. I wouldn’t call these mistakes exactly, but they are behaviours that need to be recognised and adjusted for the sake of succeeding financially.

The First Thing

The Second Thing

Most people have a hit and miss attitude when it comes to keeping track of their money. Even those with some sort of system often have little idea of what is really happening with their finances. This makes it very easy to blow-out on expenditure to the point where some people  are going backwards financially without even realising it! I’ve also noticed how lax many people are in ensuring they are properly insured. Most people I visit have insurance policies that were taken out many years ago and have not been looked at since. In the meantime, a number of things may have happened. First, their situation has changed. They may have married or had children or increased their liabilities or assets. Second, pricing structures have changed. The insurance market is very competitive and some insurances are either cheaper today than they were a few years back or have extras attached to them that were previously unavailable. It could be that there are very real savings to be made by reviewing and renewing insurances. Third, there are new products available. In days gone by life insurance was considered all important but times have changed. While life insurance is still vital for most people, medical advances and longer life expectancy means many of the illnesses that once killed are no longer fatal. What is often more likely is that we’ll survive those illnesses but be unable to work to our previous capacities. That is why insurances such as trauma and TCP have been developed.
If you haven’t reviewed your insurances in the past three years, or, if your circumstances have changed since you last had a review, now would be a great time to organise one.
